Hello!
This is a model I have shared with you before. Only this time I have photographed it using my new photo studio set up and I wanted to see what one of my models would like if I published it with better pictures.
This is the Tamiya 1/48 Bf-109 E4 Tropical in the markings of Lt. Werner Schroer, 8 Grp, JG 27.
This airframe was based at Ain El Galzala, Libiya in September 1941. This is one of my favourite 109 schemes and although I am not that great at Luftwaffe camo painting, I enjoyed the learning experience of trying new techniques with this model.
The kit is fantastic to work with and one of the best designed 1/48 kits I have ever built, it was so easy to build! It looks very nice built straight from the box, all I did to add a little more interest was to modify the kit pilot figure and use some fuse wire to depict the lines for the landing gear and the canopy.
I used the AK Interactive Luftwaffe Camo paints for this one and the colors are very good! The only downside is that it takes these paints a long time to cure, but once dry, they leave a clean, smooth finish.
The airframe was weathered with washes and a dust mist from the airbrush to blend everything together. This Tamiya kit is great fun to build and it remains one of my favourites. If you want a fun, easy to build model try this one out it!
I hope you have enjoyed the new pictures!
Until next time, take care and Happy Modelling!
Darren.
We have come a long way since Monogram released its Bf109 in the sixties.

We sure have! Mind you, I still have a fondness for those Monogram kits.
